Pre-K and KG Screenings

Kindergarten Screening - New Students
April 15, 2024

  • All parents and guardians of children who will be five years old on or before August 31, 2024, are invited to the Moundridge Elementary School’s Kindergarten Screening and Pre-enrollment Day.

  • At the screening, MES professionals will assess each child’s kindergarten readiness in the areas of early literacy, early numeracy, and phonological awareness. Some fine motor and gross motor skills will also be assessed. The assessments last about one-half hour and are by appointment only. While students are being assessed, parents will complete a screener that describes the child’s developmental abilities while at home. Parents should also be prepared to complete enrollment paperwork on this day.

  • Please call the school office at (620) 345-5500, ext. 401 to schedule your appointment or to ask any questions related to enrollment and the screening.  We’re looking forward to meeting with you and your child!!

  • Parents of current MES Preschool students will complete enrollment online during the summer and will also be asked to complete the ASQ screener at that time. There is no need to bring your child to the kindergarten screening as they will be screened during preschool class time.

Pre-School Screening & Enrollment - New Students
April 24, 2024 (4 y/o PreSchool)
April 10, 2024 (3 y/o PreSchool)

  • For new students interested in attending the 3 year old and/or 4 year old classes next year. The screening is by appointment only and will take place at Moundridge Elementary School (207 S Drucilla).

  • Our Early Childhood Team will be conducting the Speed Dial Developmental Screener while parents complete a screener that describes the child’s developmental abilities while at home.  The screening process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.  Please contact Summer Creed at creeds@usd423.org  or 620-345-5500 x. 401 to schedule an appointment.

  • If at all possible, we request that only the child(ren) being enrolled in preschool and the parent/guardian come to the appointment.  This will help us maintain a quiet atmosphere for screenings to take place. Please plan an additional 15-20 minutes either before or after the scheduled screening appointment to complete all other necessary enrollment paperwork.

  • If you would like to complete the Pre-Enrollment Form ahead of time, please go to: TBD

  • Parents of current MES Preschool students will need to complete the Preschool Pre-Enrollment Form but will not need to bring their child in for screening. You will also need to complete enrollment online during the summer and will also be asked to complete the ASQ screener at that time.

  • Please bring your child's birth certificate and immunization record to this screening.
